Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using OwnRise. By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Who we are
OwnRise is a marketplace platform connecting homemakers (sellers) with local buyers, operated by Bibha Gupta, Ylismäenkuja 8 A13, 02100 Espoo, Finland. OwnRise provides the platform only — the contract for goods and services is between the buyer and the seller directly, and OwnRise is not a party to it.
2. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using OwnRise, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
3. User accounts
- 👤 You must be 18 years or older to sell on OwnRise, and at least 15 to register as a buyer
- 🔐 You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure
- 📧 One account per person — duplicate accounts are not permitted
- ⚠️ You must provide accurate and truthful information when registering
- 🛑 OwnRise may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms; you can close your own account at any time from account settings
4. For sellers
- ✅ You are solely responsible for the quality, accuracy, and legality of what you sell
- 🍽️ Home food sellers must comply with Finnish food safety law (Elintarvikelaki 297/2021) and register with local authorities if required
- 💰 Buyers pay you directly, so you keep 100% of what they pay. OwnRise is free to use during launch; any future service fee will be shown before it applies
- 🚫 OwnRise reserves the right to remove listings that violate these terms without notice
- 📦 You are responsible for fulfilling orders on time and as described
- 🖼️ You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload, and you grant OwnRise a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display them on the platform for as long as your listing is live
5. For buyers
- 💳 Payment is arranged directly between you and the seller (cash or the seller's preferred method), on pickup or delivery — OwnRise does not process payments or hold funds
- 📩 Contact the seller directly first if there is an issue with your order
- 🤝 OwnRise can help mediate disputes between buyers and sellers, but is not obliged to and is not a party to the transaction
- ↩️ Refund eligibility depends on the individual seller's policy and Finnish consumer protection law
- ⏳ The 14-day right of withdrawal for distance sales under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (Kuluttajansuojalaki) does not apply to perishable goods (e.g. food), made-to-order or personalised items (e.g. custom cakes), or services that have already been performed. For other goods, arrange returns with the seller.
6. Prohibited content & conduct
The following are strictly not allowed on OwnRise:
- ✕Illegal goods or services of any kind
- ✕Misleading, fake, or duplicate listings
- ✕Content that infringes copyright or intellectual property
- ✕Harmful, offensive, or discriminatory content
- ✕Spam or unsolicited commercial messages
Violations may result in immediate account suspension and reporting to authorities.
7. Liability
- ⚖️ OwnRise is a platform — we are not a party to the contract between buyer and seller
- 🚫 We are not liable for the quality, safety, or legality of goods and services sold
- 💶 Our maximum liability is limited to the value of the specific transaction in dispute
- 🔧 We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the platform
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Finnish law. Any disputes that cannot be resolved directly will be referred to the competent courts of Finland. Consumers may also use the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of OwnRise after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
